"How I Banked Over £3,000 And Wiped The Smirk Off A Few Skeptics Faces..."



     If you are serious, determined and committed to achieving MUCH greater results than you've managed so far within your business, then this is the most important letter I've probably ever sat down to write to you...

     You know the saying that all business owners have this "positive mindset"... where they are always open to new ideas, methods and techniques…?

Well forget it!

They are not!

By a long shot!

Total myth!

     In fact a hell of a lot have incredibly closed minds, and (wrongly) believe that what they are doing right now is the ONLY way to run their business.

     In other words…

I’m not interested in trying something new (different), I’m quite happy with the mediocre results that just about keep the business afloat and the wolf from the door”

     That was more or less the response I received at one of those ‘business breakfasts’ I attended recently.

     We were discussing marketing methods, and of course online marketing dominated the conversation.

     Some of the business owners I was sat with were literally obsessed with online marketing.

     Eventually I got a turn.

     And I started to explain a method I use that generates a higher order response rate than most (if not all) the online marketing techniques that we had already discussed.

     A lot of frowning...

     And I continued to explain that it had the ability to laser-target the precise customers who want to buy any product...

     ... generate a pre-launch hysteria and even re-activate the buying habits of lapsed customers.

     Blank faces all round.

     “Postcards, or better still, Postcard Marketing” I announced.

     “One of the direct response industries best-kept secrets” I continued.
 
     “Postcards?… Sent through the post?… To promote your business?… Are you having a laugh?… That’ll never work!” …

     …came the predictable responses.

     The idea of a simple message written on an A6 or A5 piece of card and then posted to a targeted audience just… well… seemed a bit ‘weird’ to those skeptical business owners.

     "You need to show us some actual figures to back up your claims" shouted a business owner.

     "No problem" I said.

     And there is NOTHING more satisfying that wiping the ‘smirk’ off a skeptics face.

     Is there?

     Nope.

     So…

     I set about proving them skeptics all wrong.

     I told them that I would document a postcard marketing campaign, and when we meet again next month, I’ll reveal my figures and results.

     So here’s what I did…

     One of the simplest marketing methods to use with postcards is the announcement of a special ‘time-sensitive’ offer.

     It’s one of the easiest ways to generate quick and easy cash from your existing customers/clients.

     My ‘offer’ was a £10.00 reduction on one of my best selling products, BUT only if the order was placed within 48 hours.

     All very easy to set up.

     I created a new Paypal button and uploaded it to a basic webspace that repeated the special ‘time-sensitive’ offer.

     And created a VERY basic postcard.

  Here it is:

     Then selected 500 names from my list of customers who had bought two or more products but had yet to buy the product I was promoting.

     Next I got my mailing house to print the cards on A5 size card in single colour and post out using 2nd class postage.

     The results?

I generated thirty seven (37)
orders for a £87.00 product.

     A very easy:

£3,219.00

     …from something that took less than 10 minutes to set up.

     And it cost just £155.00 (31p/card) to post out the 500 cards.

     Meaning I made 20x my expenditure …

     Yes! TWENTY times my investment…

... or 2000% ROI


     Compare that to other forms of marketing?

     So with all this evidence, I really looked forward to the next breakfast meeting.

     The day finally arrived…

     One of the more ‘loud’ members of the group shouted:

     “Right Rob, did you do your postcard marketing thingy”

     I didn’t react to the put down.

     I slowly rose from my chair and detailed exactly what I did and the £10.00 discount offer to all those skeptic business owners.

     Heck, I even brought along some of the postcards and a printout from my paypal account.

     And then, announced the £3,064.00 profit.

     Silence… followed by a couple of ‘smart alec’ questions that I batted away.

     Let’s just say, five of the eight business owners are now giving postcard marketing a go themselves...

     ... in fact three of them have employed my services to do everything for them.

     Smirk = rubbed clean off faces.

     That example was just ONE of hundreds of postcard marketing campaigns I’ve conducted over the years.

     I’ve used postcards for:

  • Building lists – sent to a cold list and offering a freebie product in exchange for an opt in

  • Generating an interest in a forth-coming product launch

  • Sell products…

  • Announce a sale or special offer

  • Thank customers for their loyal custom

  • Welcome new customers and clients

  • Re-activated lapsed customers

     … in fact I don’t think there is anything you CAN’T promote using postcards!
